Alexander Homestead Wedding: Jennifer and Jameil

Jennifer and Jameil’s wedding on Saturday night was a gathering of 150 friends and family- all clearly there to celebrate the couple’s love. Moms, Dads, close friends, and other family members were smiling all night long.

The reception really got going when the Flower Girls, Junior Bridesmaids, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, BOTH Matrons of Honor, the Best Man- and then the Bride and Groom themselves- were introduced to “Make Me Better” by Fabolous.  Jennifer had the perfect dress, and Jameil and the groomsmen accented their tux with some sleek Air Jordans!

The room looked great, with purple accents everywhere.  Twig and Orchid flower arrangements were beautiful.  The bride and groom provided their guests with some fun extras- A “Candy Bar” with jars full of purple color coordinated sweets AND a fire pit outside featuring a cigar bar.

This group loved music, and the dance floor was packed all night long. It was a super-fun, high energy celebration.  Loved it!

The reception was full of special moments, too.  the Toasts/Speeches by the Matron of Honor and the Best Man brought tears to everyone’s eyes.  Jameil’s fraternity brothers from Lenoir-Rhyne were inspiring- and clearly were themselves inspired by the groom. Jameil also put the spotlight on both his Mom and his new Mother-in-Law, dancing with each of them to their own song.

The night ended high on energy as the J&J ran out of the barn to their waiting limo, and passing through a crowd of sparklers and Chinese Lanterns that lit up the night.  I’m looking forward to seeing the photos!

Top 50 First Dance Songs of 2013

The first dance a bride & groom share as husband and wife should be one of the most memorable moments at your Charlotte wedding reception. That makes the first dance song selection one that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The song you choose should be one that has some special meaning to the two of you and/or to your relationship. That song should speak to who you are and reflect your personalities.

There are no rules, however, when it comes to selecting a slow or fast song for your first dance. If you want to convey a romantic and elegant tone, select a slower tempo song for your first dance.

If you’re a fun couple, select a song that is upbeat and fun. The energy you create will add excitement to your celebration and make it difficult for your guests to resist joining in on the fun when it’s their turn to dance.

Olivia and Jacob Dec 14

It was a classic December night in Charlotte- cold and crisp, and a perfect night for a wedding.  Olivia and Jacob looked so happy together – and friends and family were definitely in full attendance.  I was so impressed with the families!  It was fun to be a part of a reception where everyone who spoke really commanded the room! Both Dads (David and Robert), the Best Man (Wesley), and the Maid of Honor (Julia) all know how to give a great speech- they had meaning, were from the heart, and told a story.  The environment of the reception was Fun! A great first dance song- “Hold On” by Michael Buble started things off right.   My favorite part of the reception was how the couple included all the parents and grandparents in special dances and moments throughout the night.  A great event that surely did the job of creating special memories for the bride, the groom, and their families.

Mint Museum: Mint Condition Gala

Mint Museum Event- the Mint Condition Gala

3.12.11  The Mint Condition Gala was big time fun.  This annual event raises money for the Mint Museum of Craft and Design through two great auctions.  After the bidding, winning, and dinner, it turned into a great party!  The event space on the 2nd floor was transformed into a giant dance floor.

The Details Our friends at EyeDialogue provided some great lighting that transformed the space- and it included the debut of their 4″ Disco Ball. (Really Cool, by the way.)  I had a great time playing everything from 70’s disco to the latest from Ke$ha, and the crowd loved it.  The dance floor was PACKED for more than two hours.  We had to ask people to leave so they could close up the museum!  Great Event, and thanks to the Founder’s Circle group at the Mint for having us entertain at this great party.

The Venue  GREAT Venue / Space in Uptown Charlotte!  The New Mint Museum is on the Avenue of the Arts, and is super easy to find and near 277 and I-77.  The 2nd Floor Space is called the Robert Haywood Morrison Atrium. It is an AWESOME space for any party, and especially a wedding reception. It  is 4000 square feet, and it features a 60 x 60 glass wall that looks out toward the streets of Uptown Charlotte.  It is a beautiful space, and it lends itself to be decorated any number of ways, or just used as-is.
